In 2022 Mazenod College took the reins of the College musical. Shrek – the Musical was a huge success and a great way for both Colleges to welcome our students back to the stage after the disappointment of the previous two years of lockdowns. Based on the film Shrek this production saw our students taking on familiar characters and making audiences laugh with the time-honoured lines and jokes from the original.

Mazenod College works in conjunction with Avila College to stage an annual College Musical. This event gives students across all year levels the opportunity to develop and showcase their skills in acting, dance, backstage management, set and costume design, and playing in a theatrical band. Mazenod also hosts an annual Performing Arts Festival that never fails to bring joy to friends and families who come along to watch.

Performing Arts Festival
The Performing Arts Festival is a wonderful example of student voice and agency at the College. The senior Performing Arts students are the main organisers of the show. These students manage everything from designing the posters, auditioning acts, publicising the event and hosting the show. The acts have ranged from magic tricks to dancing, singing and everything in between. For many of our students this event has proven to be a great catalyst for building the confidence they need to take part in future College activities. The Performing Arts Festival has become a much-anticipated fixture in the College calendar.
