Night of Excellence 2024
On the evening of October 17th, the Mazenod College community gathered at Robert Blackwood Hall, Monash University, for the highly anticipated Night of Excellence. This annual event celebrated the diverse talents, achievements, and dedication of our students, highlighting their journey throughout the year across academics, co-curricular activities, leadership, and the arts.
The night began with a warm welcome from our Principal, Dr. Paul Shannon, setting the tone for an evening filled with inspiration and pride. As the opening notes of “I am Australian,” performed by the Year 7 cohort, echoed through the hall, it was clear that this would be an unforgettable celebration of student excellence.
Throughout the event, attendees were treated to a series of impressive musical performances, including pieces from the Mazenod Symphony Orchestra, the Stage Band, and highlights from this year’s musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Each performance reflected the passion, talent, and hard work of our students and faculty, leaving the audience captivated.
In addition to musical performances, the event honoured students' achievements in various fields, including outstanding accomplishments across faith & community, academics, leadership, and co-curricular activities.
A highlight of the evening was the handover of the College Captaincy, where outgoing College Captain Ryan Peiris shared heartfelt reflections on his journey before passing the torch to Sebastian Saba, the incoming leader for 2025. This symbolic moment was a reminder of the continuous legacy of leadership at Mazenod College.
The celebration continued the following morning with a Mass & Assembly to officially recognise the graduation of our Year 12 students. Proud parents joined us as the students received their certificates, marking the culmination of their high school journey. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2024 and wish them every success in their future endeavors.
The Night of Excellence is more than just an event—it is a testament to the enduring spirit of Mazenod College, where students are encouraged to "Be a burning flame, not a smouldering wick." It reflects the commitment of our students, teachers, and the wider community to pursue excellence and make a positive impact in all they do.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this special event. We are incredibly proud of our students and look forward to celebrating their continued successes in the years to come.
