Italy Study Tour 2024
Our students on the Italy Study Tour have embraced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fully immerse themselves in Italian culture, history, and daily life. Hosted by families from Liceo Vivona in Rome, they’ve experienced a warm and authentic welcome into Italian traditions and routines. This unique exchange has allowed them to attend classes alongside their Italian peers, gaining firsthand insight into the differences between Australian and Italian education systems.
Each day has been a blend of education and exploration. Students have brought history to life through their own research and presentations at iconic landmarks, including the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and the Fontana di Trevi. A highlight for many was witnessing Pope Francis deliver a General Audience in St. Peter’s Square, a moment of profound cultural and spiritual significance.
The students have shared their excitement and insights through daily reflections:
"It was fascinating to see how Italian classes work. I discovered that Italian students have to work harder than Australians; they study a lot! Everyone was so kind and friendly today. I think I’ll make many friends here." – Daniel
"What a lifetime experience, to be there and to have Pope Francis just a few meters away from us!" – Joedan and Phoenix
"The host families met us with great pleasure. We will be spending the next 10 days with them in the neighborhood of Roma EUR." – Christopher and Milan
Currently based in Rome, the students’ journey is far from over. They will soon travel to Florence, Venice, and Milan, where they will encounter masterpieces of Renaissance art, the charm of Venetian canals, and the vibrancy of Italy’s fashion and financial capital. This carefully curated itinerary is designed to provide a deep and meaningful understanding of Italy’s rich heritage, offering not only memorable experiences but also a profound lesson in global citizenship, cultural appreciation, and lifelong learning.
