Highlights | Mission Action Day 2025
Mazenod College transformed into a vibrant hub of activity and camaraderie on Friday, 4th April, the final day of Term 1, as we celebrated our annual Mission Action Day (MAD). The goal of the event is to raise awareness and funds to support the work of the Oblate Missions. The Oblates continue to serve the needy in marginalised communities facing increasing hardship.
The day began with a heartfelt Easter liturgy in the Provence Centre, setting a reflective tone for the events ahead. Following the liturgy, students embarked on a 5-kilometre walkathon through the streets of Mulgrave, symbolising our solidarity and commitment to supporting the Oblate missions both locally and globally. Upon returning to the College, the campus buzzed with excitement as students and staff participated in a myriad of carnival activities. From the ever-popular coin toss and laser tag to inflatable attractions, there was no shortage of entertainment. Sports enthusiasts showcased their skills in contests like the AFL longest kick and crossbar challenge.
Culinary delights were in abundance, with the Year 7 area and cafeteria offering a diverse range of international cuisines, including jacket potatoes and specialties from Italy, Japan, India, and Malaysia. The quadrangle's main stage hosted 'Mazenod's Got Talent,' where students captivated the audience with musical performances and unique acts.
The festivities concluded in the Provence Centre with the much-anticipated Easter Egg Raffle and Major Raffle draws. Dr. Shannon and Fr. Harry commended the collective efforts of students and staff in raising vital funds for the Oblate missions, which directly support projects assisting marginalised communities worldwide.
The donations amount currently stands at roughly $55,000! Donations can still be made until 30th April, 2025.
