While engaging in curriculum planning and teaching and learning methodologies, teaching teams at Mazenod College develop the curriculums for each year group from 7 to 10 and use a variety of methods to deliver the curriculum, including the textbook, “To Know Worship and Love”. Students from Year 7 to 10 complete assessment tasks in each unit and complete written examinations at the conclusion of Semesters 1 and 2.
An education in faith, a preparation for life.

Religious Education is designed and delivered on the values and principles of our Catholic faith and the Charism of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Religious Education focuses on the development of the whole person and is inclusive of all students in our school community.
Religious Education is compulsory at Mazenod College from Year 7 to Year 12. There is a common curriculum from Year 7 to 10 and in VCE students choose from four different pathways. Highlighting the academic rigour of the Religious Education program, Mazenod students have led the state in 40+ study scores in VCE Religion and Society for over a decade.

Year 11 VCE Pathways
Mazenod College offers four pathways for Religious Education in Year 11.
Religion & Society Units 1 & 2: a VCE subject in which Unit 1 focuses on the role of religion in society and Unit 2 focuses on religion and ethics. Students who complete Units 1&2 in Year 11 have the opportunity to select Units 3&4 in Year 12.
Religion & Society Units 3 & 4: an accelerated Year 12 VCE subject in which students study the Catholic Christian Tradition and complete a range of School Assessed Coursework, with external examinations at the end of the year which can contribute to a student’s ATAR score.
Unit 3&4 VCE VET Christian Ministry & Theology: a trade based VCE VET course that provides students with the knowledge and skills to work within a Catholic and Christian institution and to lead in a faith based context. VCE VET CMT provides both a Certificate III trade qualification and contributes to a student’s ATAR score.
Vocational Major Religious Education: this course satisfies the demands of the Personal Development Skills course as set down by the VCAA, while remaining faithful to the Catholic nature of Mazenod College. The students' projects, classwork, and the issues they address serves the development of an authentic Catholic identity.
Year 12 Religious Education
The focus of Religious Education in Year 12 changes to seven Reflection Days, including a two-day, overnight retreat.
