Students participate in a combination of theory and practical lessons. Classes assist in their knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to their health, safety, wellbeing, and movement competence and confidence. They develop specialised movement skills and understanding in a range of physical activity settings. The curriculum provides opportunities for students to refine and consolidate personal and social skills in demonstrating leadership, teamwork and collaboration. Beyond Year 8, there are various elective courses, including Year 9 Health and Physical Education, Year 9 Sports Science, Year 10 Physical Education, Year 10 Health and Fitness and Year 10 Sports Science. VCE Physical Education
This study equips students with the appropriate knowledge and skills to plan, develop and maintain their involvement in physical activity, sport and exercise across their lifespan and to understand the physical, social, emotional and cognitive health benefits associated with being active. VCE Physical Education prepares students for employment and further study at the tertiary level or in vocational education and training settings in fields such as exercise and sport science, health science, education, recreation, sport development and coaching, health promotion and related careers.
VCE Health and Human Development
VCE Health and Human Development is designed to foster health literacy. As individuals and as citizens, students develop their ability to navigate information, to recognise and enact supportive behaviours, and to evaluate healthcare initiatives and interventions. Students take this capacity with them as they leave school and apply their learning in positive and resilient ways through future changes and challenges. VCE Health and Human Development offers students a range of pathways including further formal study in areas such as health promotion, community health research and policy development, humanitarian aid work, allied health practices, education, and the health profession.
VCE VET Sport and Recreation
VCE VET Sport and Recreation program offers nationally recognised qualifications and contributes fully to the VCE through a study score. These qualifications provide students with the opportunity to acquire and develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to work in the areas of sport and outdoor recreation related industries. The course combines the academic exploration of sports management with hands on experience of sports and recreation facilities and programs.
