At Mazenod we pride ourselves on providing a broad and challenging curriculum at every level. While our Junior curriculum focuses on exposing each student to our full range of curriculum areas, our Senior school sees students forge their own journey from 40 VCE subjects and five university enhancement subjects, focused on their abilities, interests and the demands of their chosen pathway.
Commerce
Design and Technology
Design and Technology gives students the opportunity to create products and develop design solutions by following the design process. While Food Technology supports students to develop knowledge, understanding and skills to make healthy, informed food choices and to explore the contextual factors that influence eating habits and food choices.
Digital Technologies
Digital Technologies can provide students with practical opportunities to use their design thinking and to be innovative developers of digital solutions. This approach gives students authentic learning challenges that foster curiosity, confidence, innovation, creativity, and cooperation. At Mazenod College, we help students develop their design and computational thinking skills, and to become safe, respectful, creative and innovative learners.
English
At Mazenod, we develop students capable of critical thinking, aesthetic appreciation and creativity from Year 7 through to VCE. Our innovative lessons focus on developing students’ abilities to create and analyse texts, moving from interpretation to critical analysis. Through engagement with a rich variety of texts, our students become confident, articulate and critically aware communicators. VCE students regularly achieve exceptional results across the four disciplines of English, Literature, English Language, and Vocational Literacy.

Health and Physical Education
Health and Physical Education at Mazenod aims to enhance the wellbeing of all students by educating and leading young men in physiology, sports science, sports management, recreation, and human development. Blending physiology and engaging practical learning, Health and Physical Education improves performance and empowers young men to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
Humanities
Humanities at Mazenod entails students studying History, Geography and Politics in a variety of core and elective courses from Year 7 to 12. The strong track record of VCE results in all three disciplines has drawn press attention and garnered multiple Premier’s Awards in recent years, leading The Age to dub Mazenod a “Humanities powerhouse".
Languages
Mazenod College is dedicated to the learning of three languages: Italian, Japanese and Chinese (Mandarin). We offer these classes as part of the core subjects in Year 7 and 8 and then students have the choice to continue through to advanced VCE classes.
Mathematics
The Mathematics faculty prides itself on our fantastic results across all year levels. A traditional standard integrated with modern teaching methods prove fruitful for our young men in discovering the beauty of the contemporary mathematical world.
Performing Arts
This faculty specialises in the subject areas of Music and Drama. Both subjects have seen students receiving excellent results at the VCE level and many of these students have gone on to develop outstanding careers in the Performing Arts area.
Religious Education
Religious Education is designed and delivered on the values and principles of our Catholic faith and the Charism of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Religious Education focuses on the development of the whole person and is inclusive of all students in our school community.
Science
Science is more than just knowledge. Science is a way of thinking. The professional Science teachers at the College encourage our students to be inquisitive and question all that is happening around them. The junior curriculum feeds into the four key branches of Science in the VCE curriculum – Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Psychology.
Visual Arts
This faculty specialises in the subject areas of Art and Visual Communication Design. Both subjects have seen students receiving excellent results at the VCE level and many of these students have gone on to develop outstanding careers in the Visual Arts and Design industry.
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Vocational Education and Training (VET) is an important part of many students’ senior secondary education. Subjects can be completed as the VCE pathway, Vocational Major pathway, or the Victorian Pathways Certificate. VET subjects develop industry specific knowledge and skills, as well as general skills needed for employment, training, and further education.
