Lourdes, the experience I will most remember...

12 August 2011

The experience I will most remember about Lourdes is the procession in the evening. There were so many people in the line-up and it was spectacular to watch. I also had some great conversations with a few people I didn’t know and they were all really friendly. Overall, the whole day was amazing, we did so much and it was an eye opening experience, especially when stepping into the baths. Lawson Kennard

The experience I will most remember about Lourdes is the bathing in the springs. It was an amazing experience where we were able to pray for loved ones and be bathed in the Lourdes water. It was a good feeling leaving all your worries to God and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It allowed me to be a witness to my faith and I would do anything to do it again. Tishan Lokuge

The experience I will most remember about Lourdes is the baths and the Grotto. I liked them so much because I have never done anything like that before and I didn’t know what to expect. I was a bit nervous going to the baths because I knew it would be cold, but I’m glad I did it. I loved the Grotto, touching the rocks, seeing Mary’s statue and imagining Mary there in 1858. Andrew Aiello

The experience I will most remember about Lourdes is the Grotto. Walking in the steps of St. Bernadette was just mind blowing, and to stand where she did and see the spring she dug was truly inspirational To see that God can truly be seen by anyone with faith. Connor Van Doorn

The experience I will most remember about Lourdes is the faith that I saw amongst the people. Perhaps the people that best exemplified this were the sick and elderly. In Australia they are forgotten and left lonely but in Lourdes it is the complete opposite. They are seen as the most important people in the area. They inspire me because their physical ailments do not stop them from believing in God. They inspired me because their faith in God is immovable. They inspired me because they are true examples of complete faith and trust in God. Tony Pham

The experience I will most remember about Lourdes is the baths. The baths have been the highlight of my trip so far, even though they were freezing cold, the feeling of being in such holy and miraculous water made the cold go away, until you stepped out. Also the faith that the sick and impaired have is inspirational in how they make it not only to Lourdes, but also bathe in its waters. Anthony Giuliano

The experience I will most remember about Lourdes was the bath and the people in the shops. From the moment you get into the bath I felt something different. It was like I was being reborn, all my sins were just a gone with the wind. The people in the shops were amazing, I might have had a different experience to everyone else as I had the privilege of being able to speak to the shop keepers in Spanish. For me and a lot of others, it would not be an everyday thing speaking to a person who speaks French, Spanish and English. Carlos Sandoval

The experience I will most remember about Lourdes was the baths. I was very hesitant of bathing in the holy water at first, but I thought of the millions of people who would love to come here but cant and I have the opportunity to do it. It was an amazing experience I will never forget, it felt like I was cleansed of all my sins. Stephen Pocock

The thing that I’m always going to remember was the candlelit procession at night around the Sanctuary at Lourdes. It was so cool to see so many people who believe in the one God coming together to profess their faith in the Virgin Mary, as well as the candlelit procession itself and the singing. It was beautiful. Dwight Rogers

The experience I will most remember about Lourdes would have to be the baths, it was an amazing and spiritual experience, as the feeling I had when my sins was cleansed, and also all of the people that lined up for that special moment made me believe in how much God and the Virgin Mary means to different people. Adrian Broccio

The experience that I will remember most about Lourdes will be the candle light procession. Seeing so many people who believe in the same thing is inspiring. Also, those who are sick make the effort to be there to feel the grace of God and hopefully are healed in their sickness. Tim Malmo

The experience I will remember mostly about Lourdes is the culture, the rituals and the lives they live. All people, all nations and all colours from different parts of the world have gathered in one place to share, preach and tell the same message of God. Nicholas O’Hara

Lourdes to me means the place where Our Lady appeared to St Bernadette and instructed her to pray and come 15 days in a row. It is a place of healing. It is where about 650 miracles of healing have happened. Chris Warren

The experience I will most remember is the baths in Lourdes. It was an amazing joy to be part of. I will keep this memory with me as I am one of the millions of people who pilgrim to this place for either spiritual or physical healing. Zachariah willatgamuwa

For me, Lourdes is a place of spiritual connection with God, though Our Lady. She intercedes for us at this special place. I also strongly believe it is a place of healing. Shannon Vaz

The single moment that I will remember is the procession during the last night in which we were in Lourdes, the unification of sick people as well as healthy. It brought the spiritual presence of our true faith into the light. William Ryan

The single experience that spiritually touched me was in the Grotto in which our Lady of Lourdes appeared to St Bernadette and instructed her to pray for the sick, drink the spring and bathe in the water. David Tobin

For me, Lourdes was amazing because not only was I one of the millions of people getting the opportunity to be there, I was experiencing exactly the same thing St Bernadette did at the Grotto. Even though I didn’t go into the baths, seeing the amount of people in the line was just unexplainable, to think everyone believes that it heals and makes you feel like a different person is unbelievable. James Gardner

Hello I’m the coolest Year 10 at Mazenod and the experience I will most remember is the baths, taking all my clothes off and hopping in freezing cold water. BUT even though the situation sounds so weird, I was feeling the love and grace of God that it zoomed past and didn’t feel that weird after all. Angus Carney

The experience I most remember at Lourdes is the Grotto. I found it an amazing experience. I felt a strange sensation. It really made me feel like what we believe in is real. It’s like I could sense that something special had happened here all those years ago. Lachlan Cauchi
