Inaugural Mass

16 February 2017

This year’s Inaugural Mass will mark the beginning of celebration for our 50th Anniversary. While the Mass marks the commencement of the Academic Year, it is also the appropriate time to celebrate the foundation of the College. For this reason, we have extended a very special invitation to the class of 1967 and Fr Patrick Moroney OMI, one of the founding Oblates of the College, to be the preacher at this Mass.

The Oblates, local Parish Priests, and Parishes and the first family, laid the foundation for who we are today. Throughout the year many stories will be shared that might sound romantic such as the first days at St Joseph’s, first School to have carpet and the Oblates using classrooms as their residence in the evenings, yet these stories tell of our foundation on a solid ground sacrifice and generosity. We talked about “Leaving Nothing Undared for God's Kingdom,” those who came before us lived this challenge. We honor the sacrifices of the past by taking the time in this 50th year to Celebrate and in the College’s strive for Excellence in “Leaving Nothing Undared.”

The Inaugural Mass will be held on Friday, 3rd March 2017 at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Cathedral Place, East Melbourne starting at 7.30 pm. It is essential that you are seated by 7.10 pm. This Mass is the most central and meaningful gathering of our College Community. Each year we gather in the Spiritual home of the Archdiocese of Melbourne to begin our School Year. It is expected that all students will attend wearing full school uniform.

Please make every effort to attend the Inaugural Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Friday, 3rd March 2017 at 7:30 pm. This special occasion brings us together like no other and is a wonderful celebration of our community and Church. Please make use of the buses provided and we look forward to seeing you there.
