Shared Stories 2016

15 December 2016

This year we had 55 students selected from a range of submission to have their creative writing and art work published in the Shared Stories Anthology. This publication is kept in both the State and National Library archives every year and continues to grow. The beauty of this initiative that it is open to any student of any ability to contribute and those published each receive their own copy. Each year Catholic Schools across Victoria participate. Currently there are approximately 30 different schools and it continues to grow.

Mazenod had another successful publication year. Gareth Cassidy of Year 10 was awarded the Australian Catholic University Award for the best writing piece published. His story, ‘Kelpie’ was awarded the best piece of the year by Dr Matthew Ryan who gave a poignant speech about the beauty of Gareth’s short story. Manish Khalari of Year 9 also received a small award for having two pieces published. We also had some superb art work selected for publication too.

This is an amazing accolade and tribute to the talents of our students at Mazenod. They are now officially published writers and artists.
